On a side note...I've been hearing about the $20 trick when you check in.
Have any of you tried it?
Did it work?

I have not tried it but heard its hit or miss. I always ask for an upgrade and have gotten some pretty nice rooms for free. Other times its what I booked.

IPCPR CONVENTION & TRADE SHOW 2016, JULY 24-28 IN LAS VEGAS
By Charlie Minato @charlieminato · On May 7, 2015
While New Orleans will play host to the largest premium cigar trade show this year, it’s only a temporary thing.
A representative of the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers Association (IPCPR) informed halfwheel that the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show & Convention will take place July 24-28, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nev. at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, located in between the Venetian and Palazzo hotels.
It means that seminars will take place on Sunday the 24th, while Monday, July 25 is the first day of the actual trade show. This year, seminars will begin on Friday, July 17; whereas the 2014 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show began on a Saturday.
The IPCPR also confirmed that there is a three-year contract in place with Sands, meaning the trade show will stay in Las Vegas through 2018. By that time, Vegas will have hosted the mid-summer trade show six out of the last eight times.
- 2011 — Las Vegas, Nev.
- 2012 — Orlando, Fla.
- 2013 — Las Vegas, Nev.
- 2014 — Las Vegas, Nev.
- 2015 — New Orleans, La.
- 2016 — Las Vegas, Nev.
- 2017 — Las Vegas, Nev.
- 2018 — Las Vegas, Nev.
This marks the first time in recent memory that the IPCPR has had long-term plans for the trade show set in place, something that could benefit exhibitors particularly when it comes to storing booths.
Returning the trade show to Las Vegas—particularly for multiple years—is a big win for the IPCPR and its new head, Mark Pursell, who began his tenure as ceo in July last year. Pursell joined the organization after overseeing the International Builders’ Show, a 75,000-person trade show. His experience running a successful trade show was seen as one of hist strongest attributes for his hiring.

Well, if you guys are still wanting to do ~22-27th, then I'll probably fly in the night of the 24th or the morning of the 25th and fly out Sunday. Then again, the total time for most of the flights looks like 6hrs, driving is 9hrs... lol..

Davidoff Adding New Las Vegas Cigar Bar
http://halfwheel.com/davidoff-adding-new...-bar/85214
The “Davidoff of Geneva – since 1911” Cigar Bar will carry a full line of premium cigars for the traveling connoisseur and specialize in limited edition cigars to pair with the unique liquor selection,” said Matt Arcella, managing partner of Calabrini, LLC, in a press release.
“The ambiance and setting will be sophisticated yet unpretentious. In addition to bringing the pleasure of Davidoff to the dedicated cigar aficionado, we will also introduce Davidoff to a wider audience. Las Vegas is attracting a growing number of young and affluent consumers who come here for the phenomenal clubs, restaurants and shopping; not just to gamble. With our state of the art ventilation, lighting and music, we anticipate catering to this large demographic”
The new Las Vegas location is expected to open later this year. It will be the second new Davidoff cigar bar to open this year, following the planned Tampa location. In addition, the company has announced new stores in Atlanta, Houston and Lower Manhattan.
Davidoff and the Arcellas currently operate three walk-in stores in Las Vegas—the Grand Canal Shoppes (Venetian/Palazzo), MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay—as well as smaller boutiques in the Venetian, Palazzo, Mandalay Bay and Paris.
