Triple Crown
#1
What?  No Triple Crown thread?  I was two years-old when Secretariat ran the table, so this is my first recollection of a horse taking the Triple Crown. Despite witnessing history being made yesterday afternoon, I was left torn on American Pharoah.  True, he posted a great time yesterday at the Belmont, but he was pretty mediocre in the Derby and even more so in the Preakness where he posted the worst time for a winner since 1950.  A far cry from Secretariat, who still holds the records for every leg.  Furthermore, two 8-horse fields?

I'm happy for the owner, trainer and jockey, but I really hope this isn't the only Triple Crown winner I get to see in my lifetime.

He was leading from start to finish and won by what (5.5 lengths). I forgot all about Affirmed until I saw the news. There never be another horse like Secretariat.

Pete the Preakness was a muddy track, I don't think any horse would of had a good time in that race..

Most Preakness and Belmont have 8-12 horses. The best of the best show up for the Kentucky Derby and many find out that they don't have what it takes to win Belmont and Preakness so the field shrinks. Secretariat won Belmont with few horses too. I don't remember the number but it was a small field.
