Our IT Manager sent this email out, I did it, just passing along the infio:
REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public this month.
REMINDER - all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.
.... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS
To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222.
It is the National DO NOT CALL list It will only take a minute of your time.. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.
HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON. It takes about 20 seconds.

Just pulled this from the
www.donotcall.gov/ site......sounds like a scam!!
Scammers have been making phone calls claiming to represent the National Do Not Call Registry. The calls claim to provide an opportunity to sign up for the Registry. These calls are not coming from the Registry or the Federal Trade Commission, and you should not respond to these calls. To add your number to the Registry you can call 888-382-1222 from the phone you wish to register, or go click on “Register a Phone Number” in the left column of this page.

I told my wife and kids if you don't recognized the NBR, don't answer the cell phone. If it's important or if they know you they will leave a voice mail.

A lot of them are phishing scams. They call with the hopes of getting some kind of response. Pushing a button to talk to some one, then they disconnect and they KNOW that your number is active, and they sell that to other telemarketing companies.
NEVER push any buttons, just hang up

On android phones you can download call blocker apps. Add numbers that you never want to receive calls or texts from again.

Ya, your IT guy should be a little more on the ball. What kind of company do you work for?
