I rarely see any stems in my cigars......now plugged sticks happens every so often, especially with cubans.

Funny... my 2010 V Maduros are plugged too... even Habanos S.A. draw tests their cigars - you would think at ~$10 each, the Olivas would take some pride in their product. I certainly have been turned off by them and won't be a customer in the near future.

When one hits the stem the flavor just disappears. The burn and smoke almost cease and there is just the stem ember. And the size does not seem to matter. My buddy's and I have a running joke cause it seems I get the cigar with the stem and they do not. Now jokingly I even trade cigars of same brand right before they light up.

I've ran into the same with some of my RYJ Churchills and was able to remove the offending stem with tweezers. Good thing it doesn't happen that often.

Never thought of tweezers. But my stems seem to be small twigs at times. I can hammer them against my ashtray and they make a nice thunk sound.

Same problem with the 2010s. Bought a box of 09s and they smoke like a dream but I get a bit pissy every time I have to doctor a $10 stick to smoke it.
