I hope you're talking about 3 gallons of distilled water. Use only distilled water. And monitor the humidity and temperature. Generally accepted practice is 70% humidity and 70 degrees fahrenhite. If you're not monitoring that now, start now. Get a hygrometer and thermometer.

yes i am ...and yes thats what its at...70/70....i feel really honored to have this collection....but at the same time.......i feel it needs a better home....kinda like someone giving up there child so they can have a better life....lol

Sorry to here about your loss that you came by your cigars. Who did you loose and how long ago? Obviously you meant a bunch to them. Pull up a chair and tell some stories about you and yours.

Hers my storyâ¦.well what Iâm willing to tellâ¦â¦I grew up within a well rounded familyâ¦my dad was a football star in collage, my mom was the tom boy of all tom boysâ¦.(drag racing on the weekends, and building fast cars during the week)â¦how they ever hooked up is beyond meâ¦lol.. my momâs dad (gramps) has taught me everything I know about everything â¦.I remember sitting out on his porch while he taught me to read ,with the daily classifiedsâ¦.lolâ¦it really workedâ¦hahaâ¦.as he enjoyed one of his cigarsâ¦..not being angry for burning up all his cider matches cuz I loved lighting themâ¦ Wink

Iâm finding out a lot about my gramps after his passing that I never knewâ¦.he was quite a war hero I knew that his was in ww2 but I never knew his roleâ¦.I received his journal along with his collection (pride and joy) he was part of the Silver Plate projectâ¦.which was code name for the atomic bomb that dropped on Hiroshima â¦.without derailing on to that subjectâ¦.lets just say I would have asked a lot more questionsâ¦but a true hero ,never has to let anyone know his deedsâ¦ Smile

..fast forward to 5 years agoâ¦.I was stuck in a dead-end jobâ¦.and was really wanting to follow my passion (applying all the car and mechanical skills that gramps taught me) and build off road cars(class one,sandrails,etc)â¦.but with no money ,its very hard to leave a paycheck for a dreamâ¦and just hope you make itâ¦.gramps always told me to do what you love ..but just figure out how to get paid for itâ¦ Wink

â¦.very good adviceâ¦.one day he asked for some help with the yardâ¦and of course being the awesome grandson I amâ¦lolâ¦I was over promptly after workâ¦. he handed me a check for 20kâ¦and told me to follow my dreamsâ¦my grandma later told me he had been selling a couple boxes of his collection that were rare or that been heavily sought after to give me the startâ¦for my gramps to have that much faith in meâ¦I knew I couldnât fail..â¦I started a successful business making some of the sickest cars in the industry (Laughing Gas Technologies)â¦Iâve built cars for industry leaders( KC hilites, mopar, GM performance,etc)â¦.after I started to turn a profitâ¦I had asked around on who was one of the top humidor buildersâ¦.because I wanted to give my grandpa something special ,something he was passsionait aboutâ¦â¦I commissioned to have a J.C. Pendergast (SD model) built for himâ¦â¦my Gramps passed away before it was finishedâ¦..;( he never knew about itâ¦â¦but I know he would have been proud of itâ¦â¦so I have the new one and the old one â¦(I think itâs the CL model)â¦..my family was very angry with the collection..(because it is what put him to rest)â¦.I had some inquiryâs on the purchase of the collectionâ¦.but they all wanted to dismantle it and split up the collectionâ¦.that will not happen while Iâm aliveâ¦.thatâs why Iâve decided to hold on to it until I find it a good homeâ¦..the money isnât really the issueâ¦..I just want someone to have it that is just as passionate about it as gramps wasâ¦â¦so thereâs my storyâ¦I hope it has shed some light on where Iâm coming fromâ¦everyone here at SC has been very kind and excepting of a newbie like myselfâ¦.thanx

welcome aboard, tyler. thanks for choosing SC. and thanks for sharing your story...a beautiful one at that. I personally think you should keep the collection. as you learn more and develop your personal palate, it is my belief that you will be nourishing a re-defined relationship with your gramps. and when you kick back with a good cigar, just you and your thoughts, your accomplishments, even your uncertainties...you can bet that gramps is there celebrating your life...just watch...you'll see him dancing happily above your stogie as the smoke rises and twists.

[welcome] from the flatlands. Thanx for sharing your story, as a newbie myself I can tell you that you have found the right place. I say, don't sell it. Just keep it maintained and enjoy some stogies now and then.
