ET, Teck...
OK, after using the new forum code for a couple of days, here are a few weaknesses you guys may want to address (IMHO).

  1. At the bottom of each post you can quote a person but it is labeled "reply". Maybe change the graphic to say QUOTE
  2. There is no option that I could find to do a general reply with all features, just the quote or the quick reply
  3. The arrow on the main screen [Image: on.gif] indicates new posts but, unlike the arrow in the sub-forum screen [Image: jump.gif] which brings you to the first new post, the main screen arrow marks all the posts as read. This is inconsistant and leads to mstakes
  4. The Multi-Quote feature is cool, pelple need to be made aware of it
  5. PM [strike]Zip[/strike] ZAP is gone (this was useful for you Eric)
  6. Userlist is not sortable (it was fun sorting by postcount or date joined)
  7. For the love of god get some more interesting smilies! (start with popcorn!)

See!

Jimmie, most forums have a "multi-quote" feature. SC does now too. Go into a large thread with more than a handful of replies and as you scan downward through the posts hit that little plus sign thingy [Image: postbit_multiquote.gif] on lets say 3 or 4 replies. Then hit the reply button on one of the replies you didn't hit that plus-sign thing on. You will be taken to an advanced post with all the features, and every post you clicked will be quoted. Try it. It's cool.

Great suggestions! Let me just go though them one at a time Smile
1) Your right. Thankfully It's just and image, which means should be fairly easy to relabel. Probably a 2-3 minute job Wink...
2) There are actually 2 on each page of each thread: (They aren't really obvious which does suck) [Image: newreply.gif]
The one at the top:

The one at the bottom:

3) Perhaps we could replace the image on the main screen with a similar icon, which would be just more like a dot, without an arrow? What do you think?
4) I'll write a FAQ for it sometime in this upcoming week... Maybe I could even make a Youtube video or something showing it.
5) Whats a PM Zip? Was it a feature that allowed Eric to PM all users within a certain Zipcode? (Actually that would be cool).
6) It is sortable, but the sorting stuff is at the bottom of the page. Some possible solutions include: (Feel free to give your opinions or other solutions you guys see)
  • We can make a FAQ entry;
  • We could move that entire "Search Member list" box that allows the member list sorting to the top of the page;
  • We could just make it so that "Username", "Joined", "Last Visit", "Post Count" can be clicked to sort the columns... That of course is a a lot more involved, but it thats what you guys think then I can make that happen.
An image of the bottom of the member list where sorting can be done:

7) lol! UNDERSTOOD!! Hehe, maybe Eric can just take the similes off of the old forum and add them here.

Just keep in mind that, thus far we have been using the default MyBB layout/templates and basically just changing the colors and what not. So, in the upcoming days, weeks, and months we'll spend time on improving the default layout.

I seriously appreciate and welcome everyone's suggestions. We are all here for the same reasons and I know that any suggestions any of you make are because you believe there's something that's being done right, maybe wrong, or that needs improving or changing. Either way, please keep the suggestions coming.

Good ideas there Skipper. I personally don't like the circle/arrow because it does not take you into the forum area...it marks them all read. Its like that on all myBB forums, so it would be a code change to make it do something else. That might come in time.

Smiles, sure...as soon as I have time I will start to merge some of the older stuff. I'm in high water right now trying to get everyones holiday orders out to arrive before the holiday. As soon as things slow down a little I will have some more time to play around.

Buttons can be changed and/or removed in the forum template areas. I'm a bit familar with that since I added the snowflakes on the main screen. Again, its a time thing.

Keep the suggestions coming and I will do what I can.

ARGH... Damn my fingers and their independent paths...
I meant PM ZAP

It was a quick and easy way to get rid of a bunch of PMs at once.

The bulk PM erase is still there.

Actually, its better because you can do a page at a time, or an entire folder.
