Brand New CAO
#1
Found this on another site (CigarLive). Thought we had some folks here that would be interested.

Tomorrow afternoon, Cigar Aficionado will be issuing an exclusive story regarding the forthcoming release of "CAO America" in the July 3rd issue of Cigar insider. Further, the story will also be posted on the Cigar Aficionado website on Weds. July 4th.

The new cigar will debut at RTDA, MSRP and ships dates have not been set. The make up is as follows.

Wrapper, Conn. broadleaf Madruo and Conn. Shade (Barber Pole, Despite the appearance of having only an "accent" of conn shade wrapper, America is actually rolled with two full sized wrapper leaves.

Binder - Brazilian

Filler - 100% Ligero from Nic, Italy, USA, and the Dominican Republic

Sizes:

Potomac - 5 x 56
Monument - 6 1/4 x 54 (Torpedo)
Landmark - 6 x 60

Body:
This is a very full bodied and robust blend (as all of the filler is 100% Ligero from 4 different countrys)

This sounds good, no talk of a fancy box, or anything.

Sounds interesting...

I wonder what part of the US the filler will be from...Conn as well?

On the other hand...is it just me or does it seem like more and more companies are broadening their lines? Think about the last year:
Rocky Patel put his name on anything he could
Pepin comes out of the shadows with all sorts of stuff
Litto (at least for me) seems more prominent
CAO comes up with Sopranos, Gold Maduros, Visions, and now Americas
...Fuente seems strangely quiet...

You'd think with all the new smoking restrictions across the country, cigar companies that cater mostly to the US market would be trying to cut the fat, or at least hold steady

Fuente has a new cigar coming out in August - well, under Ashton anyway.  Has a parrot on the label.

While I like what CAO has been doing lately, and there was a time where I never thought I would write that, a lot of the stuff Pepin keeps putting his name on doesn't seem as good to me - or at least not as good as the Tatuajes.

Same thing with Patel.  I love the edge, vintage (not 99) sungrown, but have you ever have one of those Nording cigars that he put out?  Or all of the different brands for the various vendors?  Sometimes less is more.

Thanks for the post DD, I now find myself interested in what CAO has to offer.

I must find one when it comes out
I love when people think I'm psychologically disturbed cause it means I overloaded their neurological nerves

Just saw some more info about this in the CAO all-access email.

Very cool looking, with a thin barberpole, unlike the 50/50 twist you get with the LOVO. Supposed to be full bodied as well. Definitely gonna try it out (duh).

I'm really excited about the hat though...already pulling strings to try to score one when they come out!

I'm hoping to score some of this stuff at RTDA. If I do, full report upon my return.
