Gran Habano V.L.'s

Do any of you guys know much about the Gran Habano's lines?  I stopped by Stag Tobacco yesterday and they were having a kick a** tasting.  1 Free cigar of your choice, and if you bought a box, you got 10 free cigars, plus the boxes were discounted.  I bought some of the Pyramid VL's which they are no longer making.  The box was just under $80 and then I got 10 more Pyramids free (2 of the Corojo #5's, 2 of the Habano #3's, 2 of the Connecticut # 1's, 2 of the 3 Siglos, and 2 of the GR Specials.  ALL for 80 bucks!!!  Then, I won a raffle, but donated those sticks to some G.I.'s in Iraq,  On of the regulars sons gets cigars and shares them with his buddies over there when they get free time.  I guess anything you can do to make things seem normal are a good thing over there!  Felt pretty good doing that because the owner was matching donated sticks, 1 to 1!

Anyways, had a Corojo and was actually very pleasantly surprised!!!  Have any of you had them?  I havent tried the VL, but bought them because of the sales guys pitch.  "They're limited (250,000 isnt that limited, but oh well) edition  and they were a 2 year project combining Corojo and Maduro leaves, and they were released in 2005.  We are now done and when they are gone, they are gone!  The leaves have now aged 7 years".  I thought to myself probably a lot of hype, but I was so impressed by the Corojo, and I love Maduro so much, that I bit!

i love the number fives and the tres siglos.  the blue labeled one was way too mild for me.

Yeah, I had the #5 and there was tons of pepper and spice.  It was really nice.  I know these are milder, but I was thinking for like a lunch time smoke....

Was the flavor of the blue label good?  I probably wont get to have one until next week.  I want to bring them down to about 66% before I smoke them.  The #5 straight from their humidor was way to wet and had burn problems.  Lot of potential though!

Gran Habano's are an awesome cigar at a nice price.

I'm with Rob, I like the 5's and the tres siglos, but my daughter will smoke the VL's. Taste wise they are pretty good, but it's lost on me with no strength. She tells me burnt coffee, wood and some sweet spice

The VL maduros are a good smoke. If people are talking about the VLs as too mild or wussy in here, it must be a different cigar.

NANP, the original release I had were all med/full strength, the box I bought a month or so ago, not the same stick. They are very much like the Gran Habano #1, not the #3 like the original.
