Turns out my doctor has retired since my last visit. Confusedhock:

Been about a year since then, and I'm going to miss him. Gruff, crusty old no-BS "country doc." I'm seeing his former partner on Friday, and with any luck, getting a referral to Dr. Pearce, who did my thyroidectomy in '00 . . . I'm hoping he does this kind of work, because he was just excellent last time around.

Funny story there . . . his name's Pearce and he's a dead ringer for Alan Alda . . . [lol]

Always found myself torn between thinking "Well, he sure LOOKS like a doctor, alright" and "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV!"

Surgery's this coming Wednesday. I'm doing the admitting paperwork on Monday, then showing up whenever they tell me. Should only be there about 4-5 hours Weds.; it's an outpatient procedure. Incision below the belly button, some stitches on the inside, some stitches on the outside, pat me on the butt and send me home.

What a way to spend my two-week break, lol. Laid up with a bag of frozen peas on my Ace-bandage-wrapped belly. :?

But fixed is fixed. It'll be loads better than what it is now.

Good luck with it.

It's better to take care of it now before it becomes a bigger problem.

Had it done abou three years ago, day surgery out and home that afternoon. Just follow directions and take it easy for a few days. Until it entirely heals it feels a little funny. Are they sewing in a wire mesh?

Dr. Pearce doesn't think it's big enough to need mesh, but if it looks bad, weak, or frayed in there he'll put some in. Top notch surgeon, so I'll leave it up to him.

All I can can say is you are REAL lucky NANP. Had it been 8in lower under big Jim and the twins, you would really be NANP.

Good luck man. Thoughts and prayers are with you. T
