i've got thompson digital ones, and mine do the exact same thing. i've yet to try it, but someone told me if you wrap them in a wet towel, and raise the humidity all the way up to 99, the "re-calibrate". i think i might try that, although it doesn't sound like theres any truth to it. however, oddly enough, my radioshack hygro has not deteriorated in any way.
