t is right, he sent me some, and sent some for my pops as well. i also purchased some. the stuff is great. get a little PG at walgreens or some other local pharmacy, mix you up a little bottle of 50-50 solution and top off your gel with a squirt of your 50-50 solution. works great, and keeps the humi rock solid. and if i recall correctly, if you were to choose to use the green foam garbage, you're supposed to replace the cartridge once a year or so. but switch to gel, or straight water, you won't regret it.

JAM, I think the crystals are a better choice. The beads try to hard to regulate the evaporation, yet you have an electric device trying to do that. You just need something to absorb the water so it wont spill.
Copper is an old trick. It is very toxic to most plant and algae-type organisms. It's even used in anti-fouling paint on boat bottoms. I got the idea from people who have goldfish ponds in their back yards.
