A friend of ours received a very prestigious award -

He was named the 2011 Wine Enthusiast American Man of the Year.

Chris is the second on the list, and we have been friends both both Chris and his wife since I started working with her at school about 13 years ago. (She hasn't worked in a while)

The original winery is just a few miles from me, and what started out as a small family operation way back when (1924) now ranks 7th in US Wine Shipments and 4th in Exports.

Bailey and Kerra have been there tasting and met Chris' wife, Mache. Super good people, and the award is well deserved.

I've had Gnarly Head wines before. I remember bringing some to a cookout on the rec of the shop manager. Good stuff! I hope to see the vineyard some day when I visit CA...
