Well I took my boys out to the cabin in western ND this weekend. Its early Canada Goose season for about a week so I wanted to get Jacob a goose as at 12 years old he is official to hunt. My other son Jordan did a lot of the camera work.
We set up about 400 yards in front of the cabin. Here are some decoys we set out:
Lake Sakakawea is the Missouri River dammed up. The geese stay there all day then come out to this field at night to feed. The lake was south of us and we hid under burlap hay camo on the north side of a hay bail.
I sat in the middle:
The geese ended up flying right over us and landing in front of us:
Jake's first goose!
10 minutes later another flock came in and Jake got 4 more!
Loading up and coming back to the cabin:
Getting ready to clean some geese:
The geese flew back into the field after we left:
Our ambush site way out there! What a great evening:
Terraki marinated goose dinner:
Grilled!
The boys are wiped out!
