Regardless of what you prefer, keep your cigars in a climate-controlled environment. Coolerdor won't help in a hot shed, and nothing ruins a cigar faster than temperature swings.

Problem: My smoking area(aka the MANCAVE) is not heated or cooled. I would profer to have my sticks in my sanctuary, not in the house. Any ideas?
First word of advice, stay away from Thompson's.
It is essential to store your cigars in a climate controlled space. Humidity is relative to temperature. If you store your cigars in a space that is 50 deg. for say, your cigars will become dried out in no time and they will become ruined. I would suggest you find a space inside your home that is stable and around 70 degrees year round.
If this means that you will need a humidor that is more pleasing to the eye then so be it, but don't throw your money out by storing them in unsuitable conditions.
Their are a lot of humidors that are available at reasonable prices, I would suggest a desktop for your first. Check bargain humidors or cuban crafters. Tupperware can also substitute as a humidor for storage as well. For Tupperdors and Coolerdores beads are the way to go.
Search some of the older threads on humidors in cigar 101 section should be of some help. I'm posting a link of the search for you.
