Ok...here's a question about planes that I don't know... Any help?
#1
My 8 year old son is now getting heavuly into planes...fighters & bombers from WWI to present. While looking at some fighters...F-14, F/A 18, F-22, P-40, P-39, P-51 etc.he asked the following....If "F" is for fighter, "B" is for bomber.....

What does the "P" designation stand for?  :?

Does anyone know?
If Sonny had EZ-Pass, he'd have survived that hit...

B = Bomber
P = Pursuit
A = Attack
C = Cargo
T = Trainer
O = Observation
L = Liason
then later they finally used
F = Fighter

Well, the "C" is for Cargo, the origninal designation for the airframe. (The fuel tanks were also removable.)

The "K" was named after the aircraft fuel in use when the first early tankers were designed for SAC....Kerosene.
