Have you ever done a belly-flop in a pool? Now just imagine hitting the water at 175-200 MPH....it's like landing on cement. Confusedhock:

Someone was watching over that flight!  [angel] x 155
If Sonny had EZ-Pass, he'd have survived that hit...
Never apologize mister, it's a sign of weakness. - Capt. Nathan Cutting Brittles

You got that right!! [usa]

Incredible job by the pilot, Mr. Sullenberger who was a member of the Air Force.

Quote: "He was phenomenal," passenger Joe Hart said. "He landed it — I tell you what — the impact wasn't a whole lot more than a rear-end (collision). It threw you into the seat ahead of you.

"Both engines cut out and he actually floated it into the river," he added. "

Nothing he learned in the AF helped him here. He flew gliders, that helped a bit. What he used that he learned is how to pick an emergency landing site so as to suffer minimal casualties. He did good.

Basically he was lucky or God was watching over him. If a wing tip hit a wave the plane would have summersaulted. The winds were calm, no waves. His ground speed was around 150 MPH. The plane didn't crack or break up otherwise it would have sunk and people would have drowned or froze to death. Nothing ruptured so there was no fuel on the water.

Crew deserves some credit...had the back door been opened....to the bottom they go, tail first.
