I bought a bundle of churchills in January.  I hear they become even more exceptional with age.  That said, how long should one let them rest?  Rather, how soon can you smoke them?
Well, Next i have one to review that has just 5 months of age, then i have one to smoke and review with no age at all.  So, we shall soon see what the tale holds.  Personally, I like my smokes with abit of age, no matter what I'm smoking.  I have a tried and true method of never smoking anything I purchase right away, everything gets at least a month of rest before smoking, but, for the purposes of this comparison review, I will smoke these newly acquired El Cobres in just one week.  tomorrow will be the next El Cobre, and then next weekend I'll smoke one of the new one's i got, and I'll have a review for one of each.  Hopefully, it will help to clear up your question.

I like your method Matt.  Mine is to smell the foot - if I detect any ammonia it goes back in the humi - if no ammonia it gets clipped and lit.  I have stored cigars for months that kept the ammonia smell and I have smoked cigars as soon as they arrived because they had no "stench."

Excellent!  Thanks, Matt.  I'll be keeping a close eye on your review.  I have smoked only one, but I recently started purchasing full-bodied smoke with the intent to age them.  Of course, when I see all these reviews and pics, it's hard to leave them alone, as I'm sure you can imagine.  Big Grin

If you ever get to talk to Bulz....ask him the story about this cigar....it's his "baby"! and Skipper can tell you all about it too!

I just wish I had one of the original boxes.

I still have one from Skipper from a box pass year's ago that says, "Bruce Lee" on the cello.Cool

Nice review Matt.  Now try one of the frsh ones and see what I mean about the difference.  If you were happy you ate before this one just wait until you try the fresh ones.  I like 'em fresh sometimes...

Nice review

I have a couple from my original box split back in oct or nov. It mellowed out a tad, but i dont think the age made them THAT much better. However, I have had a lot more cigars since I had my first El Cobre so I will come back. I plan to let one age for quite some time just to get an idea of what age does to them.
