Saka-Buddy on the West Coast

Steve Saka actually left New Hampshire and made his way out here for a few events.   A pretty rare thing for him to be out this way.  We were luck enough that he made a stop at the local spot here in Modesto, CA.

As usual, he was in rare form...  first thing he said to section I was sitting in...  "Did you guys pay to be here tonight?"   When we all nodded our heads, he responded with, "Well you guys got f*cked!"   hahahaha!

I had the chance to chat with him briefly about our mutual time back in the newsgroup days in the mid to late 90s...  the early days of online cigar communities that were all text-based.   He remembered my handle and the old brass Zippo (in my pic with him) that we had made back in the day.   It was good to reminisce for a few minuted about some of the people back then and the good old days.

Some pics:

Brulee Blue to start the day... well, to start the event... to be fair, I had a couple of cigars there at the lounge before the event...

Me with the Brass ASC Zippo with Steve...   have to do the mean face with him.

Choked on the CA tobacco taxes to buy a box of Brulee there at the event.

Buying the box meant I also got a #SakaSquatch that I had him sign:

I am usually not big on cigar events these days - it is kind of a been there, done that over the years kind of thing for me...  Saka is one that I would make an exception for, and I'm glad that I did!   Great cigars, great conversation, and a great time!

Damn, that had to be a great time!  Cool

I'm so jealous! Big Grin

Wish he would come to a shop near me.

Excellent cigar choices too!

How cool is that. When my first grandchild was born in 6/2017 I purchased a box of Saka's stogies. The Sobremesa.

That is so cool!

I love those squatch statues. I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on those one of these days.

Our lounge has a big one - probably 4 times the size of the one I got.    I don't know if they are sold separately?   We had to spend $200 in cigars and that was one of the swag options we could pick from.    I wasn't planning to buy that many, but it got me lolol
