The roller that we had at our event on Sat (same guy we've had every year for the past 10-11 years) brought some pipe cigars with him, and also both he and his son rolled a few while they were there. They are Nica puros - all long filled and 100% hand made.
This diagram shows you the trick...
1. Roll a standard parejo.
2. Cut a notch out of the cigar almost all the way through but not quite.
3. Fold the end up to close the notch - the foot will be pointing up.
4. He took a couple of hard pieces of stem that he removed from the leaves and poked them in the end (as shown) to hold the folded up foot in place.
Then he put the fancy wrapper embellishments on.
How did they smoke?
The smoked really well - draw was fine and the burned was solid, even as it burned its way around the corner!
