Stogie Humi ?
#1
Hi Guys!

I've been thinking about buying a humidor after smoking a few cigars so I don't have to keep going to the store haha Im lazy.I don't really know much about them or want to waste my money on a shitty one.

I am worried that I will get one that is not the right size then I will end up having to buy another one because I don't really know what to look for and I am new to this.

Saw some options compared on this site and I am leaning towards the Case Elegance one.

I have a budget of $150 and I still need to get a decent cutter! Does anyone have any recommendations?

Ideally something that I can't mess up lol, something simple.

Thanks for the help Smile

Lots of research out there.

This is my favorite cutter:

But it might not be yours. Depends on what you like, straight cut, V cut etc.

In terms of a humidor, always go a little bit bigger.
I wouldn't buy a glass top humidor. You don't need to spend a fortune, google a few sites.
I would also ask your local shop for recommendations. They might even have a few in the shop & probably could season it for you.
It's a great learning experience by asking around & talking to shop people etc.

For cutters, I have several, including a Xikar, V-Cutter, and punch.  It's a personal decision on which you like & can differ on which cigar you are going to smoke.

Lately, I've mostly been using my Xikar, but before that, the V.  It depends on which I'm in the mood to use, as each makes the cigar smoking experience a little different.

With humidors, most people, myself included, make the mistake of getting a humidor that's too small.  When they say a humidor will hold "X" amount of cigars...think of small cigars & you might be able to get to the amount listed.  Best rule of thumb, figure out how much room you need for cigars & the double or triple that.

Another option, instead of buying a humidor, which can be expensive, is to make a "coolerdor".  Use a cooler to store your cigars.  Cheaper & leaves you with more money for cigars.  Some people do both, have a nice humidor or 3 & have 20 coolerdors, loaded with cigars for aging.

and a direct link to a good thread, by Maduro Pips, on Coolerdors: http://www.stogiechat.com/forum/Thread-Building-of-the-Coolerdor
It's an old thread & the pics are no longer up, but the written instructions & tips are still there & it's a good read.
