any other suggestions for similar mild flavor profile cigars?
#1
Hello everyone,

An occasional smoker, but really enjoyed sitting out at night with a cigar and a bourbon on a recent vacation in Florida.

Couple of questions - I really enjoyed an H. Upmann Banker - any other suggestions for similar mild flavor profile cigars? Second, any suggestions for a good "starter" humidor and where to buy one?

Please help.

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

What type of bourbon?

Look for a CT wrapper. Perhaps a Oliva G Reserve? Smooth & mild.

Many years ago, when I started, I found a box of Don Diego Anniversarios.  They were nice, mild & smooth. They don't make the Anniversario line anymore but they do have others.

Also try the Macanudo Gold.

Ha, I think Jimmie still has some. Perdomo Champaign, Rocky Patel Connecticut is cheap decent stick too.

I do not smoke a lot of mild stuff but the one I personally find mild, well constructed, and problem free is:  Oliva Connecticut Reserve.

BTW Neptune has a great Cigar finder off their home page.  Click Cigars:  Then Click Strenght:  Making finding what you seek kind of simple.

But the ultimate decision maker is your personal palate, as palates are like finger prints, mine is different then your.

So you got to smoke a few what what you think you might like, to find what your personally like.  Part of the fun of Cigar smoking is smoking many cigars, then build a list of what you really like for repurchase.

I have also had the Perdomo Champaign, it is also a very nice Cigar.  JMHO.

In addition to what everyone else said, you may want to try different sizes of the same blend / brand.

For a starter humidor, can't go wrong with tupperware or a small cooler until you find one you really like. I think we have some threads here on those.

Great advise about the plastic containers for storage, plus you can use Boveda Packs to get right RH.  Boveda's are rechargeable, so what they get hard (dried out) I put them in a Jar with rubber seal, &  a old water bottle cut down with Distilled Water in it, in a week + or - in the summer they are rehydrated, it winter it take maybe two weeks or longer.  Do not throw away old Boveda's, they are recycleable.

EP Carrillo New Wave Conn are pretty decent and flavorful for a mild cigar
Davidoff Thousand series are nice, albeit pricey.
