My father's brother, & brother of the great pepper king (Uncle Angelo) Uncle Jay is the only one left. 
All three of them  fought in the war & they all survived.
I bet he ain't taking no freaking knee.

What an honor for a 92 year old man.
He was on the local tv news yesterday & today and this article was in the paper today.

I was at the car dealership today (getting the oil changed) & he appeared on the news. I jump up and said that's my uncle.

That is fantastic Mum. What an honor!
He looks damn good for 92!

My cousin found this article about my Dad (Thomas) and her dad - my father's brother (Angelo- The pepper king):

Can you image how my grandparents felt having 3 sons in the war. Never knowing if they would come home alive. 
I remember my father telling us this story about when he went to visit his brother in the hospital. He got a hold of a bottle of whiskey
to bring to his brother but was so nervous on the way to see him that  he finished off the whole bottle.
At first they weren't going to give my dad a pass to see his brother but he told his commander to give him the pass or report him as AWOL.
Either way no one was going to stop him. My Uncle received a purple heart and was never able to rejoin his platoon.
