Dr. Frankensteins cigars

Today I had a chance to smoke the mutated sticks that BiPolar created.  These were the Oliva Serie V wrapped in an habano wrapper from a Partagas Super Partagas, and a Super Partagas wrapped in the Serie V wrapper.

The Party wrapped Serie V.  As expected, it had the charecteristic nice draw and and good burn that the Serie V Mumceros all have.  It had a creamy, leathery flavor, with just a touch of spice, but the best part, was on the finish, a slight cuban twang.  An almost sour taste that only theh cubans can create.  The combo was very nice.  A great draw, and a perfect burn made this smoke something to savor.

The Oliva Serie V wrapped Super Partagas.  As of late, any small ring guage ISOM I've smoked has been very tight on the draw.  Burn lines have been very straight, and the flavor has been nice, but the draw has been a pain.  This stick showed no change.  The biggest thing I noticed in this stick was the lack of the Cuban Twang.  It shows to me that the Twang comes from the wrapper on these thinner smokes, and without the cuban wrapper, the twang just isn't the same.  The experience would have been better if the stick had drawn better, but as it was, it had great flavor.  A bit more spice than the Oliva V, but the V's wrapper seemed to smooth some of that spice down.

This experience has made the thought of Feuente, Oliva, Padron, and the others using cuban tabacco a very exciting prospect.  Thanks again Scott for this chance.  I really, really like the Habano wrapped V, it was very nice.

Really goes to show how those damn Olivas reeeeally rock when it comes to construction too. I also found it pretty interesting how much the wrapper affects the flavor...I'd always heard that "the taste is all about the wrapper", and this little experiment proves that to be very true.

Thanks again for reviewing these Matt!

It was cool as hell to get the cuban twang out of an oliva eh?
