That's what I thought too. I looked in the BIOS & the Boot Menu, but didn't see a way to disable it from booting from that drive, only changing the priority order of the drives.
This morning, from a cold boot, it started normally. I did get a message popup that if I hooked the drive back up to the USB 3.0 it would be faster.
If Sonny had EZ-Pass, he'd have survived that hit...
