Electoral Votes?!?
#1
Kind of makes me wonder WHY even vote.
http://www.cnn.com/video/?hpt=hp_rr_7#/v...ollege.cnn

If the electoral person of that state can vote for anyone they want, reguardless of who the majority of people in that state voted for, then WTF!

With both Obama and Romney at 49% popular vote, but 303 "electoral" for Obama versus 203 for Romney tells me that some of these electoral voters went against the popular vote in their state. I guess we will see in the end.

I have never thought it was right. WE were raised thinking the one with the most votes wins.
.

We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.

I wonder the same thing every 4 years. I think it's just to give us that warm fuzzy "my vote matters" feeling.

It is just a ploy so that CNN and all the other networks can tell you who is going to win at 11pm EST.

I think we are just given a false sense of control by telling us that our votes count. How the hell can they know who has won a state when only 2% of the votes are in? And what about the poor state of Alaska, where your vote doesnt count because election is called before any of their votes are in. There are states where only 69% of the votes are in but have already been called yesterday. Dont get me wrong, not upset at results. Just feel like more time is needed before a decision like this should be made. And how about the legalization of pot? Maybe it will drive down the price of tobacco??? It will never fly since its a federal law. Who knows.

It's a broken system, and scarily, it's probably going to get a whole lot worse before it gets any better.

And so it begins:
"Military Absentee Ballots Delivered One Day Late, Would Have Swung Election For Romney"

Can the electoral seats change their votes?

well... remember... most states are winner takes all... so the question is, WHICH electors voted against the popular vote in each state ultimately forcing a situation in which the opposite candidate wins office.

Something about that story didn't sound quite right. I certainly hope it's not true, if that is true it is truly disgusting.

This electoral college thing is broke. Not sure how anyone thought it was a good idea to begin with. Knowing some states (CA and NY in particular) haven't voted for a republican since the 80's, and others (TX) haven't voted for a Democrat in even longer. It just doesn't make sense in one of those states if you're voting against the grain, you know you're going to lose. So why bother? And what on earth would happen if a state voted for an independent, third party, or write in candidate? Would that state's representatives actually vote for that person?

So first an airplane full of ballots for the military just crashed and burst into flames, and now the military members that did get to vote had their votes come in late. I don't know if we should go away from the electoral system or just don't fix it if it ain't broke unless it is broke lol
