pics of the winter makeover
#1
Last winter I spent some elbow grease giving my Harley a make over.
I'm quite pleased with the results.

Below are a few images and a link to the full gallery if you want to check out the other shots.

If there's interest I can also post more about the project itself (what I did and how). I'm building a post about that for a Harley Forum anyway.

When I say "I'm quite pleased with the results." you have to understand that it was pretty much a stock 2008 XL.

It already had a custom seat, and after market pipes and AC.
But I wanted to do some cosmetic stuff.

The pics are clickable.

Here's the BEFORE pic.

Very nice. Did you do the paint? Kicking around the idea of turning my shed into a paint booth for awhile but I have no experience. I really like how yours came out and that's from a pic on my phone which I'm sure isn't doing it justice. Also, any trouble with your front shocks after powder coating the upper part. I debated on doing that when I did my lower tubes but wondered how it'll hold up and if the gasket would fit correctly.

Thanks folks!

Actually I did NOT do the paint.
I WON the paint!
I entered a contest for a free custom paint job and won!
The pics really don't do it justice. The black parts actually have some gold flake in it and when the sun hits it just right ... it looks wicked.

I didn't powder the forks either.
The top sections I wrapped in flat black automotive vinyl. Turned out great.
The mid sections I put fork boots on. But since I didn't want to take the forks off I just split them down the seam, put them on, and super glued them back together. It's nearly flawless. Have to get REAL close to see any evidence. And even then you'd probably not notice unless you knew what to look for.

Lots of little things like that made the project a fun one.
