They do in fact know Mario much much better than me. JAM too for that matter. It just surprised me that after 25 years they remember me. I was a pretty big customer, but still...
(& they were located in NY, as was I and I never got charged sales tax nor tobacco tax!!!)

Regarding the cigar of the month debate, you can usually see which cigars cigar of the month clubs are offering that month. With that information, just go to your local cigar shop or find those cigars online, minus the administrative fees.

There are several people on the board who I have similar tastes with. If I see that they like a certain cigar, I'll try it too....& it's a good chance I'll like it.

I've never done it, as it didn't really seem like that great of a deal. $30 for 5 cigars from cigar.com does not seem like a great deal, given what you can find out there online. I have found that forums are the best resource to discover new things you enjoy.

The only way I have found the COMC to make sense is if you do it with a local brick and mortar shop. If they see you coming in to pick up your monthly smokes, will discount more sticks of the ones they include if you want to buy a box, and generally are looking to let you try new things, then I think it is worth paying a small premium. I never tried it with mail order, always figured it was a good way to get rid of dog rockets without having to look the customer in the face. I do the club with my local shop, and it is not a bargain, but it gets me to regularly try new things that I probably would not select on my own.

Well, I decided to give the CI's club a whirl for a few months. So far I'm pretty happy. The shop that I frequent doesn't have a huge variety. They do have a nice selection, but it's all stuff that I'm not very familiar with. They get busy around the time that I go in (after work, on my way home), and it can he hard to get some one to help me.
I'm liking the club so far, because it's nice be exposed to new sticks that I wouldn't go out and buy on my own. I think that after this first 6 months, I'll take my new knowledge, and put it toward samplers and walk ins.
Thanks for all the input
