Where do I begin?

I have had quite a bit of bad luck with postage over the past 2 years as you guys all know, not only to you guys overseas, but also nationally within the UK.

Well, I have been doing a lot of complaining about it, as would be expected, and really kicked off recently when, after 3 months of investigation and waiting for claim dates etc, I was awarded with the cost of my postage back as opposed to the £44 I had claimed for the bottle of RZ I was sending to a friend as payment for a bet.

To say I kicked off would be an understatement.

Anyway,

Most recently, I have sent out some winnings for competitions, a bomb, a phone and a 5 pack, a rucksack and an African mask.

All that has arrived after 4 weeks has been the phone.

Am I pissed?

Well, I filled in the on-line forms and added a very heated email to the consumer protection folks here in the UK about the service ... or lack of ... that I have been given over the past 2 years.

I got a call today on my cell phone, which I tried to shut down due to the cost to me here in Angola, but, when I heard it was consumer protection I decided to get the bullet points and take it from there.

Deborah was very helpful indeed, and as a result of my letter to her, has been in contact with the UK postal service to find out why so many items have gone missing ......

It turns out that there has been an ongoing investigation running within the post office and courier services at present. Because I live in the Highlands, mail travels from my local post office, to an Inverness sorting depot, then heads down south to England (I forget where) to a distribution centre.

It turns out, the distribution centre is responsible for 20% of the "lost" items for the whole of the UK, a fact that the post office are trying desperately to hide and are simply dealing with each case individually until they can physically catch the gang at it.

The fact that I have had so many items that are AWOL is the only reason that I am a special case, most frequent posters use dedicated courier services.

I am feckin fuming that this is allowed to go on, I even blamed my local post office as they were the solid link as far as I was concerned, but it turns out they are the honest ones in all of this.

They had better come forward with a decent offer for this or I'm likely to post myself to this distribution centre and pop out of a box with a big feckin stick.

I am due home in a weeks time ...... replacement packages will be sent via Aberdeen .... a different distribution centre is used for the East coast run.

I'll apologies now ..... I had actually blamed the USPS for whats been going on in the past ...... turns out the parcels never even got on the plane.

Watch this space.

I've had issues sending things to the UK & Canada too... Canadian customs is the worst (they'll return destroyed goods without attempting to deliver.

I'm just venting guys .... the truth is, its actually looking promising to get something back.

Remember a couple of months ago I had a couple of boxes go missing?

I got some compensation from the vendor, but its also being looked in to by the consumer team, so I could be looking at substantial re-imbursement for all of this if it goes the way I'm hoping.

The small print in the Post Office leaflets always falls back on them only being libel for the service cost you pay for, unless you have original receipt of sale for what you posted. In the case of cigars and whisky, they dont count. I've even had the remains of a bottle sent back to me and that was not enough proof for them to settle the bill, I got £6 for the postage and that was the end of it, even though they put the remains of a broken bottle, in to a zip bag and sent it back to me as I was clearly marked as sender .... unbelievable .... here is the evidence that you fecked up and broke my goods that I payed you to take care of, and thats NOT proof?

The quicker the post office in the UK loses its monopoly the better for the consumer.

That is absolutely ridiculous Dave! I'd be sitting outside the post office with a bat just waiting for some stuff to go down.

I wouldn't worry about my five'r. You're going to have more invested in shipping than anything else.

One of these years I'm sure we'll meet up at a herf somewhere and you can buy me a beer!
