So I am contemplating getting a xuar v cutter, but have no experience with v cutters. What are your opinions on these? I have used a punch in the past and enjoyed them and use a xi cutter now and love it, but sometimes would like a different feel in the mouth.

95% of my stogies are cut with a V cutter. Enough said.
I happen to get a few good ones from Famous but some members have had issues with them. Others like the Xirar V cutter.
There are a few threads / discussions about this subject.

If I don't use a punch, I use my Xikar V cutter.
I've had no issues with it whatsoever. It cuts nicely, has always allowed for a good draw, and seems really well made. One feature I love is it doubles as a cigar rest/holder.

Got my V-cutter today. Already used it and I'm sold. The 5 or so other guys I smoke with also used it. They loved it. I may have got them hooked.
I bought it based on recommendations by several members here.

I picked up a cheap V cutter to try last week. Love it! Now I have to get a good one!

I dont like the V cut. It was designed for the torpedo shape but I like a straight cut on that cigar and use the cone shape to get the opening width I desire but cutting deep or shallow.
Having said that, I got myself a Xikar V cutter from when Eric was doing the penny auctions. The cutter is amazing. Cuts like a hot laser. The only downside is some people find it too narrow. So I often used it twice on my stogies, making an X cut.

LOVE the V cut. Hooked on it for a while now - still using cheapy throwaway V's I got from a dinner a few years ago. Only challenge is vs. larger ring cigars, they're a little tougher to get a solid cut and the draw is only good as opposed to great. But I've found it really channels the power of the stick. Hope you like it!
