When I can sing and entertain at or near her level, then I'll judge.
Meanwhile, remember Roseanne bar then watch Christina's video again.
Or... just be thankful she didn't grab her crotch and spit.

Unfortunately I agree with Skip on this one.

While I agree with most in a way and feel that the National Anthem should be sung as written and without a bunch of crap added I think we have seen people do much worse.

Opinion from the outside.

I think its a bore to see the big names rolled out to do this every time the USA has a national event. Everybody is high as a kite about the event itself anyway, so why give airtime to some money grabbing spotlight hogging, push my latest album/book/film celeb when there are others out there who would do the anthem justice?

Its over done, same same, nothing new who is gonna murder their vocal chords this time hype ...... and not what your national anthem represents in any way shape or form.

Case in point for the effect it has, and the supposed expectation, was seen on an American Chopper re-run the other night, the young US military female singing the national anthem in New York aboard the Enterprise for the Help For heroes auction ...... she tried her best to hit the high show stopping/roof off the building notes that the celebs seem to put in to better each other with, and it just came across to me as "trying to hard" and ultimately a huge "Fail".

Then I see some complete unknown (to me) at a high school (or similar) baseball game who had everybody in the stadium in tears when she sang in memory of her brother who fell in Iraq.

IMHO ..... the first national and televised event that rolls out an unknown with a great voice and singing from a heart full of pride, well, lets just say I had goosebumps, and its not my national anthem ...... so for me it will be introducing a new and better received delivery of your nations song.

The half time show is what it is ....... the fans are eating and drinking and re-running each play anyway .... the half time entertainment is there for nothing other a distraction for everybody else.

The same can be said of Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers. Two interceptions? Those are two big mistakes that cost them the game. Unacceptable. They are professionals and are paid a ton of money to not make mistakes.

Christina Aguilera is also a professional who is paid very well for what she does but she made a mistake also. Oh well. I know and love the National Anthem and having a singer botch up a line in the song doesn't diminish it's veneration in my eyes. Mistakes happen.

Personally I enjoy hearing renditions of the National Anthem done in different styles. Kinda like going to church. I do not get anything out of singing old hymns in a methodical manner as they were written. But hearing a sweet voice sing some of those lines allows me to focus on the words.

Two different comparsions but I respect your opinion.

WTF?? With all due respect I have to disagree. How can you say that about the past groups. Talk about a who's who of bands I think walk on water. I'm sure the snack stands weren't very busy with some of the past groups. I would have paid a ticket price just to see the halftime in most cases. I THINK there may be a few Brits in there somewhere.

That's a good point but never thought about it until it comes up. I don't watch the whole game and never watched one at ALL before Dave. Just not a football guy. Baseball was it for me because of Dominic playing for 12 years. I've never seen a pro game, maybe if I had it might be different. I have seen 60+ concerts because it's a huge part off my life. I listen to music every day as I am right now.

Only a New York, Dallas, (insert large metro city here) can accomidate the masses it generates. I can see why everyone doesnt get a piece of it.

heck, I was disappointed i didnt get to see a Fergee nip slip....

While I see your point totally, it is ulitmately an NFL stadium. If it is capable of 8 NFL games per year it is capable of the Super Bowl. Trust me, Lambieu would sell out. So would Jacksonville. My point is that I would like to see all the hoopla taken out of the Super Bowl and the focus on the championship.

By playing the game in Cleveland assures that the Christina Aguilera's of the world DON'T show up! HAHAHAHAHA
