laid up for a while

I had this done in high school. I was thrown out of a catholic high school after my first year (long story). My parents moved to a new town from the inner city to the sticks. Some football player was making comments about me being new to the school and being a city guy etc. I was 6'2 and 155lbs (ran cross country and track), he was about 6' 2" and 250.
Anyway I said something back. He hit me, I hit him and boom a broken nose and a deviated septum. Had the operation in junior year. What a difference.
Oh, after that I was always invited to the football parties as I didn't rat on the guy. Mum is the word..

Eric, you will feel great next week...

holy shit! i thought that the "packing" was a couple of little "plugs" as that is what they looked like. So when I went in to have them removed, i was wondering why folks had told me that it was a horrible experience. so the doc tells me to tilt my head back...he gets a grip on one with his little pliers and starts pulling.....AAAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!! it wouldn't end! the little "plug" was about a mile long and was apparently wrapped around my brain! wow! painful!!! Then he hands me a bunch of paper towels and tells me to blow my nose. A TON of clotty blood and cherry jello came out and suddenly i was extremely light headed and nauseous. I told the doc who immediately told me to put my head back and "Don't Move!" "Not even a little bit! You will pass out!" He grabbed my bottled water and dumped it over my head! I'm not kidding...he then re-filled it and dumped it again! I thought I was on candid camera! the extreme nausea and faint feeling passed after about 5 minutes and 3 bottles of water. I was soaked! BUT I could breathe!!!!

There is something really satisfying about spraying saline in my nose and then blowing huge amounts of blood and garbage into the tissue.....life is good.

Your scaring me. I'm glad its over and done with and things will be easier as the days go on for you.
I have a deviated septum(left side of nose is open right side is almost 100% closed) I'm to chicken to get the surgery done lol.
As Mr. Mum says "make the time you wont regret it"

Oh Man, I totally forgot about all that packing (of course it was over 40 years ago) but that was indeed the worse part. It just kept coming and coming out. I was like, when will this end?
