where do you live? what's the rh in your house? how's the seal of your humidor? i live in colorado, a very dry climate. i invest a lot of money in body lotion and chap stick. i've found that in the winter, i need a ton of humidification in my box. for example, in the summer (when my cooler is running, increasing humidity in the house) i need next to no humidification in the humidor. i usually end up removing everything other than the cartridge to my hydra. the winter is a TOTALLY different story. i have the hydra, numerous bottles of cigar gel, and sometimes even a cup of water. it's that much dryer in my house during the winter. and i never take anything from what a humidifier says it's good for. as far as i'm concerned, if it says it's good for a 100 stick humi, it might be good for a 25. or maybe a 250. depends on the situation. put a shot glass of water in there and see if that helps. if it does, i would look into getting another puck, or possibly some heartfelt beads. when you're dealing with these things that are designed to hold 70 percent, as opposed to just florists foam, you don't really have to worry about too much. too much just means fewer refills.

I live in Kansas City. The House is at 31% been that way for months. The heater in the house has actually been running less as it has not been as cold outside. That is what has be going crazy. There has not been any changes to the house or the Humi. I have not added any new sticks or taken any out in the last month. I will try putting the cup in it to see if that helps. Thanks for the help.

Good advice Scott. Hope this works out.
My humidors always need some TLC during the winter. Last week one was at 65% and today it's 55%. I had to put an extra water pillow in there to help raise it back up.

Unfortunately, once you have eliminated the possible, only the impossible remains. It seems you may have a problem with the humidor itself. It's possible you have a crack in it. Here's what I'd do. Remove all your sticks. Take a bowl of water and get it boiling, then stick it in your humi. After an hour, check the humidity and remove the bowl of water. then reseal the box, and check it again in an hour. If there is a large difference (more than what can be explaned by opening the lid) then it's possible you have a crack somewhere.

Use pure water...
If you have any of those simple foam humidifiers and use 50/50 solution, stop. Use distilled water. The 50/50 evaporates more slowely. Also, what is the temp in the room? The temperature is far more important than you may think.

OK after adding a cup of water for about 24 hr I was able to get to 61%. the temp in The temp in the room is 68. I only use distilled water never the solution. I currently have it in a bag and will see what happens. I just may have a crack some were. We will have to see. After being in the bag if it holds then I will seal every thing up. I will also just have to tell the wife that I just have to get a new Humi( won't hurt one bit to have two) she will never know that the other one is OK after being fixed. Thanks for the help.

How did you check it? Salt test?
