If you are receiving emails everytime someone posts in a thread you started, or you posted in, that means you are subscribed to a thread.
Most users will probably want to turn this feature OFF.
To turn off the subscriptions, locate the user control panel link at the top of the forum (USER-CP)
Click that link and look about 1/2 way down the left sidebar for "Your Profile". You will see a clickable link named "EDIT OPTIONS".
Click that link. Look under the Messaging and Notification options and turn the default thread subscriptions to DO NOT SUBSCRIBE.
You may want to activate the Private Messaging function so that you may send and receive private messages to other users. Just simply check the box next to "Receive private messages from other users."
