BOSTON -- As if the first chapter of Red Sox-Yankees for 2006 needed yet another subplot, it appears one has unfolded. According to an ESPN report, the Red Sox have reacquired backup catcher Doug Mirabelli from the Padres for catcher Josh Bard, Minor League pitcher Cla Merdith and cash considerations.
good thing they could fix one of the glaring mistakes of the offseason, Mirabelli, the best back up C in the game, back in Boston, this is definately a good thing. Bard while a swell guy and a dude I like a lot, just cannot due the one thing the sox need him to do, catch wake. Mirabelli obviously can. watch Tim go on a win streak now.

even better was they sox foiled the evil empires attempt to acquire mirabelli, just to prevent him from returning to boston!!
