My wife's father passed away last week so this past week has been a blur trying to help her through it. Today was the first day I've had to just chill and get some "me" time so I picked up some singles at Holt's and finally got around to a project I have been wanting to do for a while.
I needed to use some of the bands I have collected over time and had an idea for some cool art but didn't know how it would turn out. Still needs to be trimmed out and painted black on the outside but I think it turned out pretty cool

Sorry to hear about your wife's dad.
Cool art work! What did you use inside the bands to keep them together?

Headley I am sorry to hear that. Thoughts and prayers sent to the family. Nice look piece of art, are those dowls that the bands are on? Is that felt or paint? Has a textured look to it.

Thanks for the thoughts but things are actually pretty good.
It is dowels wrapped in felt with the box lined in felt as well. If I had to do it again I might use black felt. Initially I thought it would imitate the color of a cigar but it looks like just a background. I still think it's pretty cool.

Sorry to hear of the loss Jim.
That is a great idea for the bands, I can envision one of those 5 or 6 feet long, quite a striking display.

That's a really cool idea LZ. Maybe a marketing idea for one of the manufacturer's. It'd take a helluvalotta bands to make it but it would be cool.
