Yeah, for a newbie I'd go mild to medium and cheap. Padron delicias, macanudo,and Don Thomas cameroon. The Don Thomas is probably the best choice and less than $3

Just make sure they DO NOT inhale... this is likely to turn them off forever. Be especially careful with any cigarette smokers as it is their nature.
This is great advice, best way is to go to a local B&M and talk to the shop owner
