What's the difference
#1
Sorry for the SHITTY cam phone pic...no macro mode! LOL

But I just realized something....I smoked a VSG Sorcerer last night and then again tonight....I keep the bands usually at my desk in the garage....while smoking I look up and realize it was two different sticks. One band said Ashton Cabinet VSG and the other said Ashton VSG??? The design is different as well...anyone has any knowledge about this?

I think Mario is trying to show that under the Cabinet on the top band it says VSG, bluesman

Is the top one an older release of the VSG line maybe?

Not only do I not know what's going on, I wouldn't know what to do about it if I did.

Here is the info from there site, nothing showing the Cabinet with a gold band similar to the regular VSG as you show below. Could it have came in one of there sampler packs?

Ashton VSG Series

For those who desire a powerful and intoxicating flavor with a complex rich finish, look no further than the Ashton VSG. The VSG is blended exclusively for Ashton by Carlos Fuente Jr. using 4 to 5 year old aged Dominican tobacco taken from the finest and most fertile plants. The distinct flavor of VSG comes from its wrapper grown on a private estate in Ecuador owned by the Oliva family where this proprietary wrapper leaf is grown for the Fuente Family exclusively for Ashton VSG. The leaf is taken from the higher primings and matures slowly by sunlight filtered through the region¹s natural cloud covering. The result is the rich intoxicating wrapper which has made the Ashton VSG the most in demand cigar on the market today.

Ashton Cabinet Series
The Ashton Cabinet is the "White Burgundy" of cigars. "White Burgundy" gets its rich complex taste from the soil and aging of the grape in French oak barrels. The Cabinet's 4 to 5 year old Dominican filler blend has a rich, complex and well rounded taste. The extraordinary Connecticut shade wrapper is aged for an extra year and has an elegant palamino color resulting in a smooth and creamy flavor. The Ashton Cabinet includes no less than six different tobaccos and ends with a "big finish." Seven years pass from seedling to finished cigar before Ashton Cabinet is brought to fruition and presented for your smoking pleasure.

Found this pic shows a VSG cabinet similar to the one you have. Maybe they just changed the bands on the cabinets within the last year. The cabinet #8 and the Sorcerer are the same size.

I believe the cabinet VSG labels are from earlier releases.  With the popluarity also came confusion with people seeing the cabinet tag under the regular cabinet series and the new VSG so they changed it.  I think early on in this hobby for me I actually bought a cabinet thinking it was a VSG.

How different did they smoke Pips?
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

This is correct.  The bands were changed to eliminate confusion - or maybe create someWink.  The cabinet VSG labels are from the earlier releases.  Found this:

'Ashton began switching over to a modified VSG band in 2006 that eliminates the word Cabinet from the band, and makes the VSG moniker more prominent. The cigars are identical, this is just a branding change.' - www.vitolas.net

I enjoyed the one without the words CABINET on the band. It felt it was lacking something. But thanks for clearing this up guys...
