I'm back and still having a problem with my humidor I have not been successful in lowering the humidty level. It is hovering at around 78 percent. The humidifier itself is not in the humidor. I took it out 3-4 days ago and haven't put it back since. I put about half-dozen cigars in the box, at the suggestion of others in this thread, in the hopes that it would draw some of the moisture out. That hasn't worked either. I'm using a digital hygrometer which seems to calibrated as measured against other devices in my house (thermostat, etc). Others having similar problems have used Propylene Glycol in the humidifier (a 50% solution of PG and distilled water) with success. I trust this forum more than others and look for experienced wisdom here. Has anyone tried this method? And how do I insure that I'm using 50% distilled water and 50% PG? I can't pull the sponge out of the humidifier to wring it out or anything (or can I?)
