So I think I have a GREAT idea with my Friday Night Lights (Fights). Then I go to Cigars International and they have Friday Night Fights, Rumble in the Jungle, etc.
SHIT!!
Oh well! I am still going with it!
So tonight I feature to Fuente heavyweights battling for Anejo supremacy! In the red corner we have the Fuente Anejo 55 facing the Anejo 46 in the blue corner. The 55 boasts a consider weight advantage and a slight reach advantage.
Who will be the winner in the smoke off? (In reality I smoked the 55 Thursday night and the 46 tonight Friday) Deal with it!
In the undercard we have a newcomer versus a not-so-old star. The drinks of the night were the 40 Creek Barrel Select whiskey versus the Tommy Bahamma rum. The 40 Creek is a 10 year old whiskey that promises a rich and bold taste with smoothness and a long finish. This new whisky won a Gold Medal in Belgium significantly defeating verteran champions such as Crown Royal, Crown Special Reserve, and Canadian Club Reserve. Its originator, John Hall was rated "Distiller of the Year" by "Whiskey Magazine" for 2006. He also personally signed my bottle as I picked up the Anejos for weigh in.
The Tommy Bahamma rum features a smooth taste with hints of chocolate and a rich molasses flavor. Who will come out ahead?

The Fuente 55 smelled like no other cigar I ever smelled. The light up performed like a champ and offered a very smooth and subtle smoke. The flavors immediately offered sweetness with a woody undertone.
The 46 did not have the aroma of the 55 yet it offered a delightful scent. 46 challenged me with a tougher light and difficult draw. The flavors too like the 55 were sweet and subtle.
The Forty Creek Whiskey is smooth. I am not the usual hard liquor drinker and I prefer beer first over straight hard alcohol. And if I drink hard alcohol I always perfer a mix. With that said I am not a pussy and can drink with the best of them if called upon. And with the 55 I chose to drink the whiskey straight. During the initial prequalifying taste test I found this whiskey to be so smooth that it was easy to consume without a mix. For the duration of the 55 smoke I used a larger cognac sifter glass in order to better catch the aroma of the whiskey as I sipped on it. Overall a wonderful whiskey and I highly recommend at $18.00/bottle.
The 55 just got better and better. I found a lot of sweetness and subtle strength in this cigar. As good and sweet as it was I found myself wanting a little more complexity. I found this cigar to be an excellent afternoon-type smoke or one I can enjoy with others who do not have a more seasoned palate. Some may roll their eyes at this statement but I found the sweetness of the 55 to resemble the CAO America series.

The burn of the 55 was absolutely spectacular. The flavors became slightly more woody but not a deep woodsy that I have tasted from other cigars. This was perfect for my palate. Here is a pic of the burn progression.

![[Image: IMG_2924.jpg]](http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s206/mn654/IMG_2924.jpg)
Although not my favorite smoke. I LOVED the Anejo 55. I am glad that I have 10 more of these champions sitting in my humidor for future bouts of relaxation. Overall it was like a dream to smoke.
The challenger, the Anejo 46 lit a little tougher and offered a tough draw. But those flavors described in the 55 were there. Even match for the most part. But the 46 failed to keep the flame and stay in the match. The burn was even but I found I had to re-light at times.
![[Image: IMG_2941.jpg]](http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s206/mn654/IMG_2941.jpg)
Despite the tough draw and re-light I still enjoyed the heck out of this cigar.
![[Image: IMG_2938.jpg]](http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s206/mn654/IMG_2938.jpg)
The ash was nice despite no flame present here. Then, as with about 50% of my cigars, I accidently and prematurely knocked off the ash.
![[Image: IMG_2943.jpg]](http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s206/mn654/IMG_2943.jpg)
Still, the 46 fought with the heart of the champion in a losing effort. In my attempts to keep the flame I had to draw on the cigar more and re-light again. This eventually made the cigar more tart from the build up of nicotine. The 55 left me with no bitter taste while the 46 is still lingering with me an hour here after I smoked it.
Winner: Fuente 55
The Tommy Bahamma was certainly a pleasant surprise. At first I was convinced that I forked over $27 for a pretty bottle scared to get a cut on its face. But this rum, like the whiskey was definetly a joy to sip on its own merits without mix. I am sure that there are better rums out there but this is one that surpasses Capt. Morgan, Meyers, etc. As good as the whiskey was, the Tommy Bahamma is the clear cut winner.
I hope that you all have a great weekend. I also hope that you enjoyed the Friday Night Lights (Fights) for November 30th?
