Yesterday being Deb's birthday, we went out for an incredible Spanish meal.. I had seafood in green sauce, she had a steak (& we polished off a huge pitcher of sangria. We shared a flan for desert and then off to a local B&M for a smoke with a bottle of 6 Grapes in tow.
Upon arrival we purchased a few cigars but I took out my PAM 80. It has a thin pre-cut tip for easy lighting yet once I put a flame to it it was a bit tough to draw. I was concerned until my second or third puff. Then it opened up and wow. All pepper, spice and, believe it or not, I tasted oak. Again, I was concerned thinking maybe it needed a year or so of rest. Then as soon as the flame reached the widest part of the body it settled down to a rich PAM 1926-like cigar but with a bit more zing. Perhaps if it did not start out with such spice I could have tasted it better, but this was like a 40 year PAM on steroids. Rich leather and maple notes with that hint of oak.
On 2 occasions people walked into the store and with 3 other cigars lit they singled me out and asked the owner what I was smoking. Apparently the aroma was distinctive and attractive. (I pointed them to the PAM 1926 but neither of them bit).
I have nothing bad to say about this cigar. It is incredible and maybe worth the $30+++ price. Savor it for special occasions.
