bottom line, someone is making those cigars for him.
And as the the age claimes, he said nothing I didn't already know. With few exceptions, most cigars are not aged and if they are, they are simply stored for a few months waiting for the next ship to come in where they negotiated a low price for shipping.
Most manufacturers make the claimes based on a small percentage of some older tobacco used in the blend. And even then they start with the date the plants germinated including grow time, drying, fermenting etc.

I don't care if the dates are b.s., and to tell you the truth, I kind of assumed it was before I ever started buying them. They taste good, and that's all that counts. A 17 year old date wouldn't earn it a place in my box if it tasted like crud.

I agree with Skip - anyone that alludes to a cigar or component is 20 years old is selling a load. I don't see anything in that write up that even remotely states that he doesn't like Rocky, but is just stating the truth........

"The brand is called Flor de Baloney and
you'll notice two dates on the band - 1890 and 1892, indicating that the tobaccos are 116 and 118 years old, respectively.
Of course, this is sheer bullshit, but so are the dates on a lot of expensive cigars that are on smokeshop shelves right now. There's no real difference between these new Flor de Baloney cigars and the "vintage" cigars being foisted on the public for six, seven, and eight dollars apiece other than the price."
Gee, if he's not talking about Rockey, I can't imagine who he is talking about...:?
1890, & 1892....must be sheer coincidence.....IMHO....
I can't imagine what he would say if he really didn't like him.

Ya, he's obviously talking about Rocky. But bottom line is the Rocky vintage line sells cause it tastes good. There's a lot of vintage cigars out there that don't sell cause they taste like shit.

spot on sir.
it's all marketing bullshit. but marketing can only hide an inferior product for so long before it has to sink or swim on its own merit.

He must of been one of those guys who didn't throw Rocky a bone during those lean times.
