Robusto

5 x 54

Wrapper: Ecuador
Binder: Honduras
FIller: Honduras & Nicaragua

Prelight:

The cigar is a fine specimen enshrouded in a nice thick light tea colored wrapper with a leathery texture. I found no soft spots on the cigar. The color texture is almost looks like oiled parchment. There are hints of pear and pepper in the leathery scent of the wrapper.

The draw was a bit on the tight side with a punch but it was nothing to worry about. Lighting the cigar was no hard task either. The smoke a rich flavorfull smoke with a predominant taste of cedar and pear and just a hint
of pepper. This is a very mild cigar, with no harshness to it what so ever. Being such a tamed cigar, this would make a good entry cigar for those friends who wish to try cigars for the first time.

The ash is a nice tight white ash, that literally has to be brushed off the cigar. This cigar burned evenly, lead across the leathery stick by a nice dark oily ring.

I would recommend this on a regular rotation, for those who may need something mild on the occassion and for those who are just starting out. A good flavor, a good smoke and an even nicer price break at an average of less than three dollars a stick.

I heard that these are good cigars.  But alas, so many cigars, so little time.

I always liked the maduro robusto.  Good bargain.  Thanks for the review.

I'm going to check these out.  I have a few people coming over in the next couple of weeks, and I'd like to have some decent mild sticks on hand that a beginner can smoke.  At this price, if they waste it, you don't mind.

Thats a good idea, may have to do that with my friends.

I picked up three of these on Thursday from my local B&M.  I was looking for robustos, but had to settle on the churchills.  Anyway, I just tried my first one a few minutes ago, and the experience was not good.  I am not writing off these cigars, but I'm thinking trying them from a different B&M in the area might not be a bad idea.

Pre-light, I knew I'd have draw issues.  I cut it twice, and still had issues.  I poked it with a toothpick, and eventually managed to get a decent draw from it.  At first, it was okay.  As expected, it was mild - VERY mild!  I usually don't mind mild-medium sticks, but this was even too mild for me (perhaps my palate is changing).  It seemed okay, none the less.

I smoke about an inch and a half of if, and I'm expecting the flavor to develop... Nothing.  Another inch... nothing.  I got that "just lit" taste throughout the entire cigar.  It almost tasted stale (and perhaps it was).  I am going to check one out from a different source this week to see if maybe I got a batch that has seen better days.
