What's up with the Cookie Monster? Reddit has threads running on them, everyone seems to be snatching them up quick. So what gives?

It is a run in the Caldwell L & Found line. Caldwell cigars in general are quite better than average (IMHO), so these are probably good too.
This kind of thing happens to different cigars every so often - someone will write a review or do something else that bring the cigar into the spotlight. If it catches the right people at the right time then they do the same and things start rolling along. Then people start buying them up and they become harder to find. Then people freak out out them.
To be clear, I've not had one. Would I buy one if one became available locally or at one of my preferred online spots? Sure. Would I go out of my way to find them? Nah.
As I said, all IMHO of course.

I'm not a big fan of Caldwell but it's a Mumcero so I would buy a 5 pack & try them out.
I haven't heard any recent podcasts talk about them.

Any other notable cigar that are already out and available? I'm not familiar with this company at all and I try to stay on top of things but it's possible I just didn't catch them before! Are they an East coast or midwest company with a cult following?

I secured a few from a local cigar shop in late November. The hype comes from the rarity and nostalgia for those growing up or parenting in a Sesame Street world. It is an interesting cigar with eight years of aging. Robert Caldwell produces some nice cigars and appears to be very selective in the tobaccos he finds and uses. You do get flavors of chocolate, cookies, caramel and coffee. It is a very good after dinner cigar with coffee or espresso. Medium body and flavorful.

Agree.... hard to find so the hype goes up. I’ve tried it and wasn’t too impressed
