whats your smoking technique? - denali7432 - 08-30-2010

ive seen some people who will take 2 quick small puffs and then on the third will take a longer stronger hit, then theres those who just take 1 long hit..what do you guys do, and which way is best to get the best possible out of the cigar?

Honestly I do just what you said. Can't break that habit.

never really thought about this much. I will pay attention next time and let you know.

It depends on how it's burning and drawing. If I'm getting a great draw with clouds of smoke a single puff is great, if not a couple little ones first get the stick rolling. It is interesting to see that what nayslayer seems to be describing (I'm not sure exactly what a 'snork' is) is also close to how Jose Padron smokes:

I think this is a neat video altogether really.

I think one of the keys is to slow down and not let the cigar get hot, which seems to cause bitterness. Taking your time is worth the effort with a nice cigar, IMHO.

Could not agree more. Go slow you will taste something new every time.

Great video. And that's what smoking cigars is all about, taking your time and relaxing. And lets not forget friendships..

I hit it till I'm about to cough then I release the carb and pray.

I have no specific, end-all be-all way that I smoke a cigar. It is truely a unique experience for each cigar, as they all smoke a little differently.

I tend to the side of Domnio and Soul: if the draw is strong and produces good smoke then one long draw is all I do. However, if the draw is a little tough, I will do some short quick draws to fire of the stick for better smoke. I tend to only breath out the smoke through my mouth, rarely through my nose. Is there a way to breath it from your nose without pulling it into your lungs, which is never good with cigar smoke?
