I was looking forward to trying one of these high end cigars and saved it for a special occasion due to the rather high price.  I first got into the relaxed mode out on the deck with a glass of fine wine then proceeded to examine the pricey prize. It was a well made cigar, not too hard and a good cap.  Got a good toasting on the end then sat back to enjoy the moment. I found this smoke to be somewhat on the milder side.  I was expecting a little more flavor.  The burn of the leaf was razor sharp with a nice grayish ash.  About halfway through it started to turn harsh, and I was taking my time.  It was allowed to eventually die on its own as I did not want to smoke it to the end as I have on other cigars I really liked.

The Grayclif wasn't a bad cigar, but I was expecting a lot more.  I think in the future will save my money for a celebratory cigar that I can trust to be good and worth the price.

I love greycliff..................I hate there priceing.

The crystal and expresso are my 2 favorites.I never had the blue or red surpriseingly enough but I will get to them.

Great review Bob. IMO those sticks are all overpriced and have let me down on several occassions......I think its more marketing than anything else.

Thanks for the review.  I haven't tried any of the Graycliffs other than the Espressos, which I love.  I doubt I'll get to the Blue Labels any time soon.  Unless the prices are significantly lower, they fall into my "ain't-no-cigar-worth-that-much" category.

the Esspresso black lable is the only one to try IMO and while it is a great smoke,I can smokes 1964 Pam's all day for cheaper.[rob]

sorry you had such an expensively bad experience bob.  imho outside of the black label this is the most overhyped expensive line of flavorless crap in high ciruclation out there today.

I had the black label one last night...It was good but not as good as the price makes you think it should be.I have smoked better sticks for less.My 2 cents.

Yeah I'll go with that...I have only tried the red labels and it wasn't to bad for a mild cigar. The construction was great and the burn was even but the flavor was mediocre.

For the price, I prefer the purple label. Also, have you tried the G2? This is a great smoke at less than half the price.

Purple label is actually hand rolled at Greycliff. I went in December 05 and brought a few back. This is where I got turned on to the G2 as well.

Let me know if you can't get the G2 and I'll send some out.

I recieved one of these in a free sampler just before Christmas last year and sparked it up a week or so ago.

I feel the same as you guys, if I had paid 18 bucks for this cigar, I would have felt totally ripped off. I didn't get the harshness you describe, Bob, there was just nothing there at all - except a bit of spice at the end - I guess the cardomom finally kicked in!

Great review brother, telling it like it is for sure!
