I need some IT help please.

My son's computer won't load Windows 7. Apparently it just happened this morning & he just now told me.

It boots up & then goes right into Start Up Repair...which fails.

We've tried Last Known Good...same issue.

I've tried 3 different older restore points...same issue.

It was running Windows 7 Ultimate, MB is an MSI 870A-G54

Any ideas?
We opened the case..not much dust. Ram was not loose. All other connections seemed fine.

I was in the BIOS, ram is fine. Everything looks fine. Changed the boot default to the DVD drive & have the Windows 7 disk in it.
running a ckhdsk on the boot drive right now
sounds like a broken MBR or something like that

Any way to fix that, short of doing a new install?

(he has Office 2010 installed & the disk & code are in a downstairs room that is being remodeled = it's packed with crap right now)
How recent is your backup?
