 HYGROMETER

For proper cigar storage, cigars should be stored in an environment which is 70 degrees F at 70% humidity.  That keeps the cigars from drying out or becoming soggy, and provides a perfect environment for aging your cigars.  While 70/70 is a rule of thumb, you will find that some cigars are actually better stored at 65-68% humidity.  Humidity over 70% can, and will normally promote the growth of mold and also cause your cigars to expand, or even split from over humidification.  If too little humidity, your cigars will dry out and loose the natural oils in the tobacco. That will leave you a bitter and harsh cigar that is hard to the touch and unrolls/cracks apart when smoked.

All humidors loose humidity due to various reasons.  Temperature fluctuations from day to day, opening the humidor, and also putting cigars in your humidor that are drier than normal.  Without a hygrometer, its almost impossible to tell when you need to add fluids to your humidor until its too late.

A hygrometer is a device which measures the relative humidity of your humidor and helps you maintain the best environment for your cigars.  There are two types of hygrometers:

Dial (mechanical)
Dial Type Hygrometer
For the most part, the dial type hygrometers are *junk* and are rarely accurate unless you take the time to calibrate them.  Even when properly calibrated, they are not as accurate as the battery operated digital hygrometers on the market.  Many humidors have them built in which quite frankly is just for looks.

Digital (electronic)
Digital Cigar Hygrometer

Digital hygrometers are much more accurate. It is a small investment (normally around $15-$30) to know your cigars are being properly stored.

We have them available at $17.95 each
