 CIGAR STORAGE

cigar-bag2One of the most important items that should be considered for your cigar collection is a proper storage container. Many newbie smokers will purchase single cigars at first which are usually left in the plastic bag they were put in from the cigar store.  While that is fine for temporary storage, you will eventually find yourself buying more cigars at a time, if not full boxes, of your favorite brands.  Most any cigar smoker will tell you that your cigar collection will grow quickly as you find new cigars to enjoy and through trades with other cigar smokers.

humidor1-gifA cigar humidor is the best way to store your cigars until you are ready to smoke them. Keep in mind that when you are shopping for a humidor, get one that will hold at least double the cigars you think you will have on hand at any given time.  Most cigars come packaged in boxes of 25, so just two boxes of your favorite cigars can easily fill a commonly available 50-count humidor to its maximum!

humidor2A humidor is an investment to protect and store your cigars.  A good humidor can last a lifetime and can be passed on for generations. Like a piece of furniture, look for quality that is going to last.  There are many *cheap* humidors that you can buy online, or that come “packaged” with a bundle of cigars for $24.95-$49.95.  Figure what the cigars are worth and consider how much quality could be in the humidor at that price!  Most inexpensive humidors do not seal properly, so beware of those deals that seem “too good to be true”.  Again, think of it as a nice piece of furniture that is going to be with you for a very long time.

Once you decide on a fine humidor for your cigars, you must also maintain the humidor with fluids. Occasionally you should rotate your cigars around the humidor to make sure the cigars are doing fine (no mold or other problems).
