I could be way off base here, but could you not just use a typical PC fan?

If you used a PC fan you could get a 92 mm or 120 mm that has lower RPMs, but higher CFMs.  At lower RPMs you get the quietness and with it being a larger fan you increase your CFMs.

Ive thought about doing that clark, as being in the IT industry I can almost always get the fans free, or almost free... Seems like it would work.

As posted above they aren't high. I paid under 3 for them and have tested many. Just pic ac or dc whatever system you already have to tie into. DC makes less heat and you don't want a bunch of air so stay small. I have tested some from a pc with a cooling heatsink still attached works well slowing the air and will drop the temp.
.

We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.

Just be sure and check the AC-DC converter with your cabinet. Mine outputs 9VDC.

yeah, that's the secret. Is it DC, what voltage and what amperage (although here there is a little leadway cause it will support 2 fans and I only have 1-not counting the main fan on the humidifier)

I just adapted a PC Case exhaust fan for my dad's humidor.  He uses it to circulate the humidity off the bottom of his humi.

Items I used:
  • AC adapter from Radio Shack w/ variable voltage - allows variation in speed
  • One set of connectors from Radio Shack...any two wire type should work.  I bought the ones used for connecting trailer lights
  • A package of Heat Shrink insulators for the splicing
  • Appliance Timer that runs for 5 minutes and off 15 from Wal-Mart
I cut the connector off the PC Fan and the end of the adapter cord.  Then I strip the insulation off the two wires of the fan and the adapter.  I place the Heat Shrink insulation on each wire.  Then soulder the two ground wires and two hot wires together.  I heat the heat shrink.  Finished.

Plug AC adapter into Timer.  Use Velcro or double-sided tape to fasten to humi shelf.  Pics of Fan below...$9 including shipping http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835150006
