Dear Dr. Rob:

I have a medical question for you.   I read your article on the dangers of cigar smoking in comparision to cigarettes.   I was watching a video on YouPorn.com and SmokingSlutz.com where the woman was smoking a cigar through her vagina.   Can you please explain the hazards of such consumption.   My girlfriend wants to blow smoke rings like in the video.   Since you are such an expert in the field of tobacco smoking I wanted to consult your vast knowledge on the subject.

I would assume this would be a safer way for her to smoke since her teeth will not fall out, no lung disease, etc.    Probably a 6" cigar, maybe 45 puffs over 60 minutes.   It will be a maduro cigar, hand rolled in the Dominican Republic.

Also, should I worry about "third hand smoke" left in her little bush?   I'm not a smoker and my nose will be rather close to it later in the evening.   I'm worried about the "chain of hazardous triggers" as in your article.   Should I wrap my tongue with a Trojan too?

This stuff pisses me off as well. Mostly because it is the guys opinion but most people will see the Phd after the quacks name and just assume that the dic...... er I mean doctor knows best. He could have at least provided some real data to back up his claim. Maybe he was too busy to look it up or maybe it just does not exist.

I can't take any article seriously that has mention of "The Dangers of Third Hand Smoke" anywhere on the website.

Third hand "smoke" is really a misnomer.  it really isn't smoke, it is the residual nicotine and tar that builds up on surfaces that are exposed to smoke.  If you have ever seen a heavy smoker with yellow teeth or yellow finger nails, that is really what I think they are talking about.  We have all been in cigar shops, look at the ceiling, it will be stained if they havn't painted it black already.  at any cigar shop they have to soak the air flters in a special chemicals to get the tar and nicotine clean, so the air handlers can work.
The article did a poor job, thats why they sound like idiots.  Is it harmful?, we won't ever really know, since studying the effects wont' result in any meaningful new recommendations other then their same current message, so no one is going to invest in that kinda study.

It's funny you should say that, oxygen eventually can kill us.  It creates free radicals (ROS) which damage tissue and DNA leading to tumors, etc.  But hey, at least it doesn't give us erectile dysfunction, like smoking ciagrs clearly does according to Dr. Soapbox.
